Foreign Ministry announces its move to release 28 Iraqi students detained in Azerbaijan

BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday its move to release 28 Iraqi students detained in Azerbaijan.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is directly following through our embassy in Baku the issue of Iraqi students detained by the Azerbaijani authorities," the ministry said in a statement received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "It continues its efforts to ensure their safety and to continue their efforts to release them."
She added that "the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Baku, represented by the Chargé d'Affaires and the diplomatic cadre, immediately informed that 28 Iraqi students were detained immediately by contacting the competent Azerbaijani authorities and started to move to release them."
