Reuters) - An important section of petrochemical products in 2017 was destined for Iraq, according to press reports on Saturday.
"The transport documents for these materials were either to Turkey or to other countries so that exporters could claim that exports to Iraq were in riyal, where a small portion of the fund would be transferred in riyals to Iran and the hard currency section would be placed outside the country," the report said.
The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Iran's largest petrochemical group and a wide network of units and sales agents.
US sanctions target 39 Iranian petrochemical companies as well as agents in foreign countries.
