US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to leave the administration of US President Donald Trump in the coming period.
Pompeo announced to three leading Republicans his intention to resign from the Trump administration in the coming weeks to run for the US Senate from Kansas next year, according to The Times.
Pompeo initially planned to remain in the US State Department until the spring of 2020, but later retracted, the sources said.
According to the newspaper, recent events over the removal of US President Donald Trump will cause "political damage" to Pompeo.
