    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Saturday (January 6, 2024), a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, MP Waad al-Qaddu, revealed a loophole in the American F-16 aircraft, which represents the secret and the “peg” for the continued presence of American forces in Iraq as advisors.
Al-Qaddo said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the essence of America’s policy is to dominate the people and to mortgage their will according to what it wants in a way that serves its interests and agenda in the world, and this is a context that no two people disagree about,” pointing out that “the armament issue is part of an attempt to impose will and pressure.” “Governments must create loopholes in various types of weapons so that countries are not free to use them to confront external and internal attacks and challenges.”
He added, "The issue of airspace sovereignty in Iraq is still in the hands of the American occupation forces," pointing out that "F-16 planes do not operate without navigation unless the American side intervenes in some technical paragraphs. This explains a deliberate loophole used as a framework for pressure under the title of advisors."
He pointed out "the necessity of changing the direction of Baghdad's armament towards countries including Korea, China, Russia and others, in order to strengthen air power through aircraft that do not include any loopholes or cases of technical control in some of its paragraphs, as is happening with the American side, and to seek to formulate a road map that guarantees complete sovereignty of the airspace."
Iraq owns 36 F-16 aircraft, the last batch of which was delivered in 2017 according to a contract concluded in 2001. However, during the past few years, the American aircraft faced many problems, many of them broke down, some remained without maintenance, and the American side refrained from providing Iraq with the required spare parts.
Iraq recently moved to contract to purchase replacement aircraft, including Pakistani and French, in addition to introducing South Korean aircraft in 2021 into its fighter aircraft squadron.
