[rtl]The Ministry of Electricity confirmed today, Wednesday, that the production capacity will reach 27 thousand megawatts by the first of next May.[/rtl]
[rtl]The Ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Al-Abadi, said in an interview followed by “Al-Iqtisad News” that “the Ministry’s preparations to secure electricity in the summer are nearing completion,” noting that “the preparations include maintenance of power stations and the development of new stations to produce electrical energy, such as the Al-Dibs, Okaz and Al-Musayyab stations, and the maintenance of... Distribution networks and electrical power transmission lines.[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "this ministry's plan will end on the first of next May, indicating that the current production capacity ranges between 19 and 20 thousand megawatts, but it will reach 27 thousand megawatts when the plan is completed."[/rtl]
[rtl]A spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity confirmed that “the Ministry plans to add another 5,000 megawatts to the national electricity network by the end of this year.”[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Abadi explained, "The weather in the current period helps citizens not to use electricity much, and that is why the ministry has designated this period of the year for the maintenance of power stations."[/rtl]
[rtl]A report by the International Energy Agency indicates that Iraq’s production capacity of electrical energy is about 32 thousand megawatts, but it is unable to generate only half of it due to the ineffective transmission network it possesses. Estimates also indicate that Iraq needs 40 thousand megawatts of energy to secure its needs. , except for industrial ones.[/rtl]
