[ltr]MP for the Liberal bloc Messenger Tai, Sunday, the government called for economic pressure on Turkey to stop the Ilisu dam on the Tigris River.[/ltr]
[ltr]Tai said in a statement received / balances News / copy of it, "Article VIII of the Constitution emphasizes the balanced relations based on common interests with neighboring countries."[/ltr]
[ltr]He added that, "The government should act according to this article economic pressure on the Turkish side to stop the construction of a dam Aliso and took water entitlements from the Tigris River."[/ltr]
[ltr]He said al-Tai, "Turkey has developed plans for a crisis to implement this dam, which will impact on agriculture, environment and water resources in the marshes of Iraq and regions all", warning that "Iraq will enter into a new water crisis if completed this dam."[/ltr]
[ltr]He stressed, "the need for international action to activate previous agreements with the Turkish side in particular the 1947 Convention, which states some of its articles on the importance of see the other side on the construction of dams and reservoirs which intend to set up the state and ensure a fair water division between upstream and downstream countries" .anthy 29 / A 43[/ltr]
