Vietnam on Monday demanded China to stop sending a cruise ship to the South China Sea in response to one of the latest steps taken by China to support its claims to sovereignty in the strategic waterway.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Li Hai Binh told Reuters: "Vietnam strongly opposes this and demanding China to respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Paracel Islands and to respect international law and to immediately stop these activities and not to repeat them.
