Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit called on Arab foreign ministers to stop the bloodshed in Syria and end the war, stressing that Arabs should not stay away from the "biggest crisis in the region."
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia arrived here today for talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II and heads his country's delegation to the Arab summit in the Dead Sea region on Wednesday.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Monday that the meeting of Arab foreign ministers adopted all the resolutions put forward by the permanent delegates and would submit the decisions to the Arab leaders to take the necessary decisions on Wednesday.
During a press conference at the conclusion of the meeting of Arab foreign ministers, Safadi said that the summit will emphasize the need for joint Arab action to deal with all crises.
Asked about the transfer of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Safadi said: "The Arab summit affirms that occupied East Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine and rejects any unilateral decisions affecting the historical status of Jerusalem."
"The summit emphasizes the terms of reference between the Palestinians and Israel based on the two-state solution," Safadi said
