The UN Security Council on Wednesday began discussing a draft resolution on details of air missions carried out by the Syrian army following a suspected chemical attack that left scores dead.
"We have not been able to identify the means of transporting chemical weapons to Khan Sheikhan in Syria, while the French delegate said that there are different parties in Syria that have banned weapons, including a sympathetic organization," the media quoted the UN disarmament commissioner as saying.
Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, on Wednesday condemned a draft resolution against the deadly attack that Syria had witnessed yesterday and suspected of being carried out with chemical weapons.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement quoted by the official Russian news agency "Tass" that the draft draft resolution in its current form is "against Syria and could lead to further escalation in Syria and the region as a whole."
At least 72 people were killed and dozens wounded on Thursday in a suspected chemical weapons attack on the opposition-controlled town of Khan Sheikun in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib.
