The US House Intelligence Committee, the FBI's director, James Komi, called for a closed-door session on May 2 on Russia's intervention in the US presidential election.
Komi told the same committee on March 20 that federal police were investigating possible "coordination" between close associates of US President Donald Trump and Russia ahead of the election.
At the beginning of October, US intelligence agencies accused Russia of meddling in the presidential election in support of Trump and drew early in January the involvement of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the matter.
In a statement, the House Intelligence Committee indicated that it had asked Kome and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers to give their testimony on the matter on May 2.
The committee also asked former administration officials to respond publicly to questions from deputies after May 2, former CIA director John Brennan, former intelligence director James Clapper, and former Justice Minister Sally Yates. A43
