Australia calls for refugees to apply for refugee status

    09:27 - 22/05/2017

Called on the Australian Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, asylum seekers who arrived in Australia illegally to apply for refugee status by next October, as promised to deport them quickly, he stressed that the boats smuggled human beings "will not return" to his country.

The Immigration Minister, Peter Dutton, told reporters, in the city of Brisbane, there are 7,500 people currently living in Australia arrived by boat illegally and did not yet prove their status as refugees.

According to the statement issued by the Office of the dowtown, some asylum seekers have arrived in Australian shores in five years.

Dutton said, that "if people are not able to submit their applications to protection must leave our country as soon as possible," noting that "the government was very clear and determined long ago to make sure that these boats will not go back again."

It is noteworthy that Australia used years ago detention centers in Nauru or Manus Island of Papua New Guinea for harboring illegal immigrants and asylum-seekers trying to enter the country by boat.

On Tuesday, he said Papua New Guinea, it will soon begin to dismantle the detention center on Manus Island with a plan to close the center in October.

Currently sits more than 800 refugees and asylum seekers at the center of the island isolated in Papua New Guinea, considered the Supreme Court of Australia last year that this center is illegal. Finished / 25
