    Mawazine News - Follow up
The head of the Suez Canal Authority and the head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone said that the economic zone of the Suez Canal and its ports is committed to implementing the decisions to prevent Qatari vessels from passing through these ports or entering them in the interest of Egyptian national security.
"This comes in the light of the severing of diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar and the implementation of the Egyptian government's decision to stop dealing with Qatar," the official MENA news agency reported on Friday.
He added that any decisions issued by the Egyptian state on this matter apply to all ports belonging to the economic zone because they are territorial waters, which the Egyptian state controls in the passage of ships or not, but does not apply to the Suez Canal.
He pointed out that according to the Convention of Constantinople in 1869, the Suez Canal Authority is committed to the international agreements signed by the Egyptian state, as the Suez Canal is a global navigational course that can not be closed to the movement of transiting ships. He pointed out that the Qatari ships passing through the ports of the region are not large cargo carriers. What passes through the Suez Canal is gas vessels and can not be blocked.
On the other hand, Mamesh stressed that the movement of goods as well as the revenues of the Economic Authority is not affected by these decisions due to the non-frequency of ships belonging to regular maritime lines belonging to this country to the ports of the Authority or the container terminals handled at its ports.
