    Baghdad - Agencies
The head of the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Major General Andrei Novikov, said Thursday that 90% of Syrian territory has been freed from terrorism.
"According to military assessments, 90 percent of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic has now been liberated from terrorist organizations," Novikov told SPOTNIK.
He described it as a positive and important outcome in the war on terror.
Novikov also revealed the destination of the Da'ash terrorists, who lost control of most of their areas of influence in Syria.
"Terrorist terrorists are fleeing Syria and are moving en masse to Pakistan's Waziristan region," he told Sputnik.
He added: "Since the fall of 2016, we notice the transfer of a large number of armed supporters from Syria and Iraq to Waziristan, and then be distributed to other areas."
"In other words, the military-political tasks taking place in Syria reduce the number of armed extremists, but on the other hand, they are forced to change not only the tactic, but also the geography of their future activity."
Novikov pointed out that the task of "calling" strategy in Afghanistan now, is to expand its presence near the borders of Central Asia and China.
"According to an encouraging activity in Afghanistan, it is likely that his strategic mission over the medium term will expand his presence in the north of the country with access to areas near the borders of Central Asian countries and China's Sinjun Autonomous Region," Novikov said.
