Baghdad halted military progress in the "disputed" in preparation for the restoration of Vishkhabur and the crossings

    Baghdad / Range

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi issued an order Friday to stop military progress in the disputed areas for 24 hours. The decision came hours after the International Alliance revealed an agreement reached by Baghdad and Erbil.
"He issued an order to stop the movement of military forces for 24 hours to allow a technical team between the federal forces and the regional forces to work on the ground to deploy Iraqi federal forces in all disputed areas as well as in Vishkabur and international borders immediately to prevent clashes and bloodshed Between the sons of one homeland. "
The prime minister's directive came hours after the International Alliance announced that the federal and Peshmerga forces had agreed to a cease-fire in the seam zone.
"The Iraqi forces have reached an agreement with the Peshmerga fighters to stop the fighting in northern Iraq," the coalition said in a brief statement.
"We know that the two sides have reached a ceasefire resolution," said Ryan Dillon, spokesman for the International Coalition. "The coalition supports this step. We try to play the role of mediator and encourage dialogue between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
A fierce war erupted on Thursday, between the federal forces and the Peshmerga near the border crossing Vishkhabur The Kurdish government gave the Kurdish forces 24 hours to withdraw from the border area with Turkey
An Iraqi security official told AFP on condition of anonymity, on Friday morning, "The troops gave us Kurdish Watches for Withdrawal from their positions in the Fishkhabour area. "He added that" the shooting is turned off, but there are bursts from time to time. "
Located Fishkhabour on top of a triangle between the Turkish, Iraqi and Syrian territory, and is considered strategic , especially for the Kurds.
The Peshmerga forces took control of the oil pipeline from the Kirkuk province through Mosul, following the anarchy that followed the large-scale attack by the Da'ad organization three years ago.
At the end of 2013, Kurdistan extended a parallel line to the meeting point in the Vishkhabur area through Erbil and Dahuk, and cut off the pipeline extending from Kirkuk since the 1980s.
The new pipeline was connected to the Iraqi pipeline through which all Iraqi oil exports pass through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
The Iraqi official pointed out that "Kurdish factions continued to fight in defense of the area north of Zammar and Rabiah, near the fields Rumailan and Karachuk oil in Syria."
Although Iraqi forces have restored all the oil fields in the oil-rich province of Kirkuk and the disputed areas with Erbil in the northern provinces after their recovery from the Peshmerga, they are unable to export oil through the northern pipelines because of the damage caused by military operations against Da'ash, Of the Kurdistan Regional Authority.
Tensions between Baghdad and Erbil rose a month ago when the region organized a referendum on independence, with the result "yes" overwhelmingly.
On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) launched a referendum on freezing the results of the referendum after the loss it suffered on the ground and domestic and international political pressures.
However, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi rejected this proposal, saying "we accept only the abolition of the referendum and adherence to the Constitution."
The developments came a day after a call by US Secretary of State Rex Tilerson with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Kurdistan Regional President Massoud Barzani, urging them to start an effective dialogue to end the differences between the two parties on the backdrop of the September 25 referendum.
"He received a telephone call from US Secretary of State Rex Tilerson, during which he discussed the developments of military operations against gangs and called for the release of Al-Qaim, as well as the redeployment of the federal forces in Kirkuk and the rest of the country," the office of the prime minister said in a statement. Areas and political and security situations. "
"The position of the United States supports the unity of Iraq and understands the imposition of federal authority in the province of Kirkuk and the rest of the regions," the statement said, stressing "the importance of cooperation with the federal authority and the emphasis on dialogue within the framework of the Iraqi constitution."
In turn, the Prime Minister that "the government is determined to implement the law and the Constitution in all regions, and the Kurdistan region commitment to hand over border crossings and airports to the federal authority." He said that "the redeployment and the imposition of federal authority legal and constitutional action," stressing his concern for the security of citizens in those areas.
At the same time, the State Department announced that Tillerson expressed during a telephone conversation with Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani his country's readiness to provide assistance to Erbil and Baghdad to begin dialogue to solve the problems between the two sides.
The US State Department said in a statement that "Tillerson" urged the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi to accept the initiative of the Kurdistan Regional Government and start dialogue on the basis of the principles of the Iraqi constitution.
The State Department noted that Tilerson made a long telephone conversation with Barzani after meeting with Prime Minister Haider Abadi in Baghdad, and told the first that his country is ready to help Erbil and Baghdad to begin the dialogue between them.
Tillerson stressed that America is a friend of Iraq and a friend of Kurdistan, and called on Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga to end the clashes.
"At this stage, his country supports a united federal and democratic Iraq," he said.
