Jaafari urges signing of security and cultural agreements with Bucharest

"The two sides discussed during the meeting ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries and mechanisms to raise the level of Romanian support for Iraq in the post-elimination of terrorist gangs," the ministry said in a statement. Jaafari called for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi and Romanian defense ministries, which included the participation of Romanian troops in the training of the Iraqi army and readiness to treat the wounded a message of cooperation and real support for Iraq. For his part, Nasta stressed that "this visit is an excellent opportunity to discuss issues of common interest, especially in the security aspect, and the development of the work of the Iraqi armed forces, and strengthen their capabilities," noting that " On the other hand, Jaafari reviewed with the Romanian Minister of Education, Livio Pope, bilateral relations between Baghdad and Bucharest, and ways to strengthen them in the interests of the two friendly countries. "During the meeting, the two sides discussed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Bucharest and means of enhancing them to the interests of the two friendly countries, as well as the signing of memorandums of understanding in the education sector and the provision of scholarships," the ministry said in a statement. Jaafari stressed that "Iraq is ahead of the reconstruction process, and puts in its priorities the contribution of the friendly countries that stood with him in the face of a terrorist organization." "His country is seeking to share experiences, provide scholarships, increase the number of Iraqi students in Romanian universities, as well as support the vocational, technical, and e-education sectors in Iraq," he said.
