Next Tuesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will launch the aid salaries with the study grant for 2.3 million students who are children of the beneficiaries of the protection network.
Ministry spokesman Najm Al-Aqabi told Al-Sabah: His ministry has completed the procedures for calculating the social assistance payment for the month of October for beneficiaries of the protection network, with the distribution of the scholarship among more than two million and 300 thousand students from the children of the beneficiaries, and it will be launched next Tuesday.
He added that his ministry has also completed the procedures for including more than 950,000 new families in social protection and seeks to include the rest of the applicants if the allocations are available for the Social Protection Authority’s budget, noting that three thousand students from the children of beneficiaries will be included in the free scholarship seats for the academic year (2023-2024), in addition to including seven thousand and 310 university students from the children of families benefiting from protection, with a 50 percent reduction in evening tuition fees for government and private universities.
Al-Aqabi explained that the scholarship for students of public universities in morning studies amounts to 100 thousand dinars per month for undergraduate students and 150 thousand dinars per month for master’s and doctoral students, and is disbursed in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education according to the allocation available from the Ministry of Finance, considering the step as part of his ministry’s efforts to provide academic opportunities for the children of social protection beneficiaries.
