Iran: Saudi Arabia seeks to prevent the establishment of economic projects in Iraq on our companies
The president of the Iranian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce Yahya al-Ishaq on Saturday accused Russia and Saudi Arabia of seeking to seize the Iraqi market and prevent the establishment of economic and technical projects on Iranian companies by providing financial aid to Iraq and relieving it of its debts after security.
"Iraq's commercial potential is very wide, and there is a possibility of trade exchange between the two countries to reach 20 billion dollars annually," said Ishaq, adding that "reaching this figure should be through coordination of procedures and measures and setting priorities." According to "Fars News Agency".
"The strengthening of security in Iraq will increase the competition of other countries to Iran in the Iraqi market, especially in the reconstruction projects and technical and engineering services, especially as these countries are trying to provide financial assistance to Iraq," adding that "Russia has proposed to Iraq to forgive the debts that With an estimated $ 28.2 billion provided economic projects are put on Russian companies. "
He added that "Saudi Arabia has allocated several billion dollars to finance technical projects in Iraq in return for not to put these projects on Iranian companies," stressing that "Iran-Iraq relations need special attention to economic affairs and new economic policy to maintain the share of Iran in the Iraqi market."
"The volume of trade between Iran and Iraq now stands at 8 billion dollars and the trade balance is tilting toward Iran," he said. "Iranian exports to Iraq constitute most of the volume of trade, and there are no Iraqi exports to Iran."
