On Sunday, the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation will launch a five-year poverty reduction strategy (2018-2022) in a move to reduce its rates by nearly 23 percent.
The official spokesman of the ministry Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement that the new strategy deals with the current reality, especially that the indicators of poverty is still high, where about 23% of the population of Iraq live below the poverty line by about 10 million people, Develop solutions and treatments to reduce poverty.
On the mechanism adopted by the Ministry of Planning to identify the poverty line, Hindawi said that the ministry is conducting field surveys in cooperation with the World Bank and the United Nations organizations and the development program and target these surveys all segments and segments of society where the poverty line is determined according to the need of citizens in several dimensions, including health, housing and daily income Education and social protection as well as the empowerment of women.
