    The Ministry of Planning is preparing a new strategy to reduce poverty for the next five years, starting from 2024 to 2028, stressing that it targets housing, health, education, income, food, services and others.
    The ministry's spokesman, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, said that "his ministry, through its Central Statistics Agency, and in cooperation with the World Bank, will carry out a social and economic field survey for the family in Baghdad and all governorates, including the Kurdistan region, in preparation for launching its third strategy to reduce poverty."
    Al-Hindawi added in an interview with the official "Al-Sabah" newspaper, that "this survey will provide new data on the reality of poverty and its concentration, as well as the poorest governorates," noting that "through these outputs, the strategy will be enhanced with important inputs."
    He stressed, "The ministry, in its work, will take into consideration the reality, challenges and repercussions that the country has witnessed in previous years," noting that "the ministry has contracted with a number of specialized graduates and researchers to train them to implement this survey in the field, and that the ministry's cadres are not enough to work alone, and that the central apparatus Statistics is directly concerned with management and implementation.
    Al-Hindawi pointed out that "the strategy will study poverty in its various dimensions, not as some believe by linking it to income only," noting that it "targets housing, health, education, income, food, services and others."
