    [ltr]The Palestinian presidency has warned Israel against imposing control over settlements in the West Bank, adding that this will lead to more tension.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, said Monday that "any unilateral move to impose Israeli control over the settlements will in fact change nothing, because the settlements are all illegal."[/ltr]
    [ltr]"Any step in this context will only lead to more tension and instability," he said.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Netanyahu is discussing with the American administration the annexation of settlements in the West Bank to Israel[/ltr]
    [ltr]"We warn that such steps, if implemented, will eliminate all international efforts aimed at saving the political process," Abu Rudeina said.[/ltr]
    [ltr]He stressed that "no party has the right to talk about the status of the Palestinian territories, as contrary to all resolutions of international legitimacy, which stipulated that the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including East Jerusalem, is the territory of the Palestinian state, which became an observer member of the United Nations."[/ltr]
    [ltr]This came in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remarks that he was discussing with the American administration the annexation of Jewish settlements in the West Bank to Israel.[/ltr]
