"The project is being implemented by the Chinese great wall company under a contract signed between the Ministry of Oil and the operator of the Gharraf field in Malaysia Petronas," said Star Mahdi Ghibara, director of the Gharaf oil field.
"The completion of drilling work for 24 wells in two years to become the number of wells in the field of oil Gharraf 78 wells, where the field currently in operation with 54 oil wells," pointing out that "each new phase of production requires drilling additional wells to supply and sustain production" .
"The improvement in oil prices contributed to the resumption of projects to develop the production of the oil field of Gharraf after stumbling as a result of the financial crisis."
He explained that "the project is one of the large projects that aim to maintain the sustainability of current production and upgrading it according to the final development plan," stressing "the contribution of the project to absorb more local labor and promote the production of the field and support the national economy and strengthen the location of the oil company Dhi Qar between the oil companies, .

An oil project was opened in Dhi Qar to develop the Gharraf oil field north of Nasiriyah, the center of the province, which includes 24 wells being drilled by a Chinese company.
