Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani stressed today, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the importance of the Russian role in supporting Iraq at the regional and international levels.
A statement from his office, received by "Baghdad Today", stated that Al-Mashhadani "received in his office today, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Albrus Kutrashev, and during the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were reviewed, and ways to enhance them in various fields, especially legislative ones."
The Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed "the importance of the Russian role in supporting Iraq at the regional and international levels, stressing the need to continue joint coordination to serve the interests of the two peoples."
Al-Mashhadani said: "Iraq supports efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and the wars raging in the region, calling on the international community to intervene to end these conflicts."
For his part, Ambassador Kutrashev praised the depth of historical relations between Iraq and Russia, expressing the readiness of the Russian Federation to support joint projects between the two countries and to contribute effectively to achieving stability and development in Iraq
