Member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, MP Yasser Iskandar, confirmed on Wednesday that Iraq has dealt a qualitative blow to international drug trafficking mafias.
Iskandar said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, "The Ministry of Interior's plans for 2024 to combat drugs were very important in adopting a comprehensive strategy to confront a scourge that threatens society and has very negative consequences."
He added, "Iraq, through specialized teams, has directed qualitative strikes against international drug trafficking mafias and succeeded in bringing some of them down and arresting their leaders in operations that took place in the country after intelligence information was available that identified their locations."
He pointed out that "Iraq has become the most active among the countries in the region in the fight against drugs through the efforts that have contributed to deterring very dangerous networks through qualitative operations."
It is noteworthy that Iraq has succeeded in recent months in dismantling a series of international drug trafficking networks as part of its contribution to protecting society from the danger of this scourge. End 25 F
