    Baghdad - Agencies
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House Journal on Tuesday unveiled a plan by the Donald Trump administration to replace Arab forces with US troops deployed in Syria.
The US administration has asked Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar to contribute billions of dollars and send troops to Syria to restore stability, particularly in the northern regions. The report said National Security Adviser John Bolton called Egyptian officials and put forward the initiative.
The newspaper pointed out that the American initiative to form an Arab force attracted the attention of the founder of the private security company "Blackwater", who said that officials from Arab countries have discussed with him finally the formation of an Arab force deployed in Syria, and is waiting for steps to be taken by Trump in this direction.
The Wall Street Journal quoted military officials as saying it would be difficult to convince Arab states to send troops to Syria if the United States wanted to withdraw its forces in full.
A large group of US lawmakers, politicians and military also warned Trump of withdrawing from Syria, believing it would be a mistake that could destabilize the region and create a vacuum in the Syrian north that would pave the way for Iranian control or the return of the terrorist "da'ash" organization.
US President Donald Trump said he wanted to "get out of Syria, but if Saudi Arabia wants US troops to stay in Syria, they have to pay for their survival," in response to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's remarks to Time magazine. It supports the survival of US forces in Syria in the medium term, adding that "the presence of US forces in Syria, would reduce Iran's ambitions to expand its influence."
