    The head of the delegation of Iraq to the 107th session of the International Labor Conference held in Geneva, Minister of Labor Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani, stressed that Iraq has implemented development policies and programs in the areas of combating poverty, unemployment, violence, marginalization and psychological disability, which are part of the development plan "2018-2022" Good governance and economic reform.


     Al-Sudani said during his speech at the conference that the implementation of these policies has contributed to enhancing the capabilities of our armed forces in the elimination of gangs that support terrorism and its criminal lands, as well as eliminate terrorist and criminal targets in Iraq.


    He pointed out that the need in Iraq is based on the Decent Work Agenda and enhancing cooperation for the rehabilitation of liberated areas, as well as enhancing the youth's access to decent work opportunities, as well as the need to address child labor and increase women's participation in work and the economy. To invest in proportion to the post-conflict phase and to strengthen steadfastness to ensure that terrorist incubators do not return to those areas.


    The Government of Iraq, represented by the Ministry of Labor, has designed social security programs that promote social security and stability. The most important paragraphs are the social welfare of 5 million citizens. The Ministry has also launched the pilot program for health and education-related benefits in selected areas and in cooperation with local and international partners to encourage continuing education and engagement In health programs.


    He stressed the readiness to implement the emergency project to strengthen the steadfastness of the liberated areas in cooperation with the World Bank, which includes the granting of microcredit and psychological rehabilitation to reintegrate people into society after a shocking shock, as well as work on a program to alleviate poverty and make efforts to reform the pension system and social security.


    He called on the Sudanese conference to activate the cooperation of the Organization's work more with Iraq in order to design a national program of decent work and conduct a survey of the Iraqi labor market, as well as building the capacity of social partners to comply with the provisions of the International Labor Convention No. 87 of 1948, which Iraq ratified in 2018.
