    Washington: Gulf crisis benefits Iran and wants to resolve

    US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo assured his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani of the United States' desire to resolve the Gulf crisis.
    In a statement issued after the two ministers' meeting in Washington, the State Department said Pompeo "stressed the desire of President (Donald Trump) to alleviate the Gulf crisis and ultimately resolve it because it benefits Iran."
    The Secretary of State said that Pompeo thanked the Qatari minister for Qatar's strategic partnership and friendship with the United States and praised Doha's efforts in the fight against terrorism and its financing.
    "With the development of our strong partnership, Qatar and the United States of America are moving towards strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, a constructive and positive meeting with the US Secretary of State today in Washington," Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in his Twitter account, wrote. "He said.
    US President Donald Trump said in a telephone conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on June 15 that he supports Gulf unity.
