The Ministry of Transport has implemented the construction of ten giant gates and the development of the yards and roads of Umm Qasr North and South ports depending on the private sector companies, while in the coming months will see the opening of the port of Al-Waseliyah, which will provide about 1,000 jobs for the children of rural areas near the site.
"The ports of Umm Qasr, the north and the south, were suffering from negligence and the lifting of rubble and waste, as well as the lack of proper roads for the passage of trucks and the absence of fuel stations and workshops specialized in maintenance and repair and the gaps in the security fence that The Ministry decided to choose three solid and large companies to implement the project at their own expense. The ministry will not bear any costs because these companies are implementing several projects for the development of ports. Therefore, the ministry decided to contribute these projects to serve the public interest.
He pointed out that these companies have expressed their willingness to carry out this task as they prepare to settle the proposed land, remove obstacles, remove rubble and waste, and immediately fortify the security fence with high concrete stones and barbed wire, in addition to installing observation, inspection and surveillance cameras and building new roads with eight tracks in each direction.
