Rehabilitation of children of liberated and displaced areas
10/7/2018 12:00 am [rtl]The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has started implementing programs to rehabilitate children who have been subjected to violence in liberated areas and areas of displacement and reintegrate them into society. The Ministry of Child Welfare is preparing to discuss the draft child protection law in the country in order to enact it soon. The Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Board of the Child Care Abeer Al-Chalabi told Al-Sabah that the body is preparing to discuss the draft of the Child Protection Law in Iraq, in order to enact it and thus protect children from any aggression, indicating that the ministries concerned with the implementation of the national policy for the protection of children started launching their programs within the unified plan, The Ministry of Labor has initiated measures to implement the first priority, which aims at liberated areas and areas of displacement to rehabilitate children who have been subjected to violence and reintegrate them into society and follow their situation and thus prevent the recurrence of violence or abuse of them. The establishment of awareness-raising courses aimed at putting the vocabulary of the unified plan on the ground. Chalabi stressed that the Ministry of Labor aims to rehabilitate and integrate children and not to exploit them by the predators, as well as their attachment to the basic or vocational education system through the design of non-formal education programs and the provision of intensive vocational training programs and literacy centers for working children. The ministry also works to protect children from participating in armed conflicts as well as to support those who survived and rid themselves of terrorism and domination, she said, pointing out that this is through the implementation of programs in vocational training and ensuring the protection of children with disabilities during conflict or displacement, To conduct field visits to children with disabilities in liberated areas or in areas of displacement, noting that the unified plan has taken points for each ministry has formed a line to start implementation and the team will report every three months over two years, the period of implementation of the first priority.
