The Ministry of Agriculture, on Wednesday, the reduction of the proportion of the cultivation of dill in Iraq to five thousand acres after it was 250 thousand acres last year because of the water crisis, noting that the percentage is planted to keep species from extinction.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mehdi Damad told Al-Mawloma that "the cultivation of the placenta in Iraq was extended to large areas in the provinces of Najaf, Diwaniyah, Samawah, Nasiriyah and other provinces before the water crisis."
He added that "the sharpness of the water crisis has reduced the cultivation of the plains in Iraq for the current summer season to 5 thousand dunums, 3,500 of them in Najaf and 1500 in Diwaniyah and Samawa."
"What has been determined for the cultivation of the plum is only to preserve certain species of extinction because of the scarcity of water," he said.
