The leaders of the Czech Republic on Wednesday approved the transfer of their country's embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, becoming the first European country to take this controversial move after the United States, Guatemala and Honduras.
In a joint statement issued today, Czech President Milos Zyman, Prime Minister Andrei Babic, Speaker of the House of Representatives Radek Fontratchek, Foreign Minister Jan Gamschik and Defense Lubomir Mitnar stressed that the opening of the "Czech House" in Jerusalem next November will be the first step In the plan to transfer the country's embassy to this city.
"The Czech House will include Czech government institutions, including the Foreign Ministry, the Trade Agency and the Tourism Agency," the spokesman for the Czech presidency, Erejevac Ogaczyk, told AFP.
