Britain: Election of the most national and democratic president in the history of Iraq

British Ambassador to Iraq John Wilkes on Wednesday congratulated Iraq on the election of a  new president.
"Congratulations to Iraq for holding the most national and democratic election for the post of president in his history (Barham Saleh's election). All members of the House of Representatives had a role in that," Wilkes said on Twitter.
"Congratulations to Dr. Barham Saleh on his election as President of the Republic," Wilkes said Tuesday.
The British ambassador to Baghdad, expressed his wishes for "Saleh, all success in his office."
The parliament elected Barham Salih as the president of the Republic of Iraq. Saleh won the second round of voting with 219 votes, while his rival from the Democratic Party Fouad Hussein won only 22 votes.
