The Ministry of Planning, the Social Fund for Development project, with an initial capital of $ 300 million, is a concessional loan from the World Bank and is being implemented over 5 years .
The ministry said in a statement that the project aims to improve the living conditions and opportunities for the poor and disadvantaged through improving their ability to access services and provide jobs for them .
She pointed out that the project includes 3 governorates in the first phase (Muthanna-Salahuddin-Dohuk), and will include three other governorates in the second phase (Nineveh - Qadisiya - Dhi Qar), all the remaining provinces will be covered in the third phase .
The project targets education and health, water and small economic infrastructure, market access, and strengthening the capacity of MFIs to support SME development .
The project is under the management of the Ministry of Planning during its foundation phase for two years, and then becomes an independent body after the issuance of the Fund Law, according to the statement.
