Iraq and Iran deny the suspension of trade movement between the two countries

Both the Iraqi and Iranian governments on Tuesday denied what has been circulated about the suspension of commercial traffic through land border crossings between the two sides.
The General Authority of Customs said in a clarification that "there was a technical malfunction sonar devices led to delays for a number of hours," adding that "after the solution of the issue resumed work and normal all outlets."
"There is no stopping or stopping the commercial movement in any land border crossing with Iraq, and the movement of trucks is normal," said Shahriar Haidari, head of border crossings at the Interior Ministry.
He said that "technical problems occurred in the customs field from the Iraqi side as it has made changes in this area," stressing the solution of problems and resume work.
The newspaper "Iran" reported in its issue Tuesday that the Iraqi authorities have prevented the entry of Iranian trucks carrying food commodities, building materials, and other petrochemicals through their land border.
The newspaper said in a report published today that Iraq has prevented since Monday movement of its land border crossings in front of Iranian trucks loaded with food, construction equipment and petrochemicals, especially within the borders of the Qasr Shirin and Mehran, under the pretext of protests of Iraqi truck drivers and disable sonar in The Iraqi side of the crossing.
The newspaper quoted sources as saying that Iraq had begun to invent excuses and find obstacles to commercial movement with Iran.
The head of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce, Yahya al-Ishaq, earlier told Fars news agency that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries amounted to 12 billion dollars annually, and is scheduled to reach this year to 20 billion.
