These percentages are almost identical between urban and rural areas, with the highest percentage in Maysan Governorate (35%) and the lowest in Dohuk (18%).
Among women in the age group (20-49 years), those who were born (1969-1994), about 25% of them married before the age of 18 and 6% before the age of 15 years.
The indicators show the relationship between education and early marriage. It is lower among those with a preparatory certificate and above to about 7%, and it rises in the lower education levels to about 34% for uneducated women.
The rate of early marriage for women under 18 years of age in poor households is much higher than among rich families.

Sixty-five percent of women aged 15-49 feel secure while in the home alone, and rise in the Kurdistan region to 85% compared to 60% in the center and south of the country.
