BAGHDAD (AFP) - Jordan's King Abdullah II on Monday stressed the need to expand cooperation in all fields between the two countries, while the King expressed his country's readiness to contribute significantly to achieving greater security and stability in Iraq.

"The Speaker of the House of Representatives received today King of Jordan Abdullah II and the delegation accompanying him," said Halbusi's office, noting that "at the outset of the meeting welcomed Halabousi to visit King Abdullah II to Baghdad, praising the keenness of the Kingdom of Jordan Hashemite Organization to develop brotherly and historical relations with Iraq. "

The statement added that "the two sides discussed the bilateral relations between Iraq and Jordan and files of common interest to serve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples."

According to the statement, Halabousi stressed "the need to expand the horizons of cooperation in all areas," noting the "importance of concerted efforts to ensure the stability of the region."

"The meeting also discussed activating the economic file between the two countries, especially energy and transport, activating the border port and the commercial movement, as well as trade agreements and strategic projects between the two countries to achieve economic integration."

For his part, King reiterated the Kingdom's support for Iraq, and expressed his country's readiness to contribute significantly to achieve greater security and stability.
