Shafa'i News / A member of the parliamentary bloc "Asroun" Anam Khuzaie on Wednesday to give the Ministry of Interior the first national card unified to the Roma segment without a reference as it was in the past.

Khuzaie said in a statement today that "the Ministry of the Interior granted the citizens of the Roma segment of Iraqis the first national card unified without reference to them as it was in the past."

"This procedure is the first of its kind after it was a reference to Roma citizens, which is a kind of discrimination," she said.

Iraqi Roma are an ethnic minority in the country and live in villages, and human communities are often isolated on the outskirts of cities and towns.

The villages are located in the following provinces: Baghdad, Basrah and Nineveh, in addition to some villages in the plains of southern Iraq in Muthanna and Diwaniyah. It is worth noting that Kanaan, one of the cities of Diyala province, is considered the most important home for the Roma in Iraq and elsewhere.

The gypsies in Iraq after 2003 were subjected to reprisals from armed militias in different parts of Iraq because of the gypsy abuse of dance and sex professions. The village of Ghajar was destroyed southeast of Baghdad. Several villages of the Roma were also destroyed in southern Iraq and the Middle Euphrates, , Where the militants of neighboring tribes attacked their places of residence on the grounds that they do not have a coherent moral system, which led to the migration of the majority of the Roma from Iraq.
