Parliamentary Committee: Abdul Mahdi's foreign agreements will be "legitimate" only in this case

The Monitoring Committee for the implementation of the government program and strategic planning, on Thursday, the federal government, the presentation of its recent international conventions to the House of Representatives, for the purpose of access, and the ratification of some of them to grant the status of legitimacy.
"According to the constitution and the law, any agreement signed by the government is supposed to be submitted to the House of Representatives," said committee member Mohammed al-Baldawi. "Even treaties must be ratified by parliament."
Al-Baldawi added: "We are with what serves the political process and what serves Iraq, but there are views, and the duty of the government to inform the parliament and the Presidency of the Republic of the international conventions before signing, there must be an opinion of the political forces active in parliament these agreements," noting that " "The government can not sign an agreement and the speaker of the parliament and the deputies come out and declare against these agreements, this is political confusion."
He added that "the signing of any agreement after the strategic or the sovereignty of the country, should be briefed by the Council, and this is in the interest of the government itself, before it is in the interest of Parliament or other, especially that there are conventions and treaties can not enter into force, House of Representatives, and this be by a vote of deputies. "
The Iraqi government had earlier signed a number of agreements with Jordan, Iran, Egypt, and more recently Saudi Arabia.
