(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Ministry of Transport participated in the meetings of the joint committee between Iraq and Syria in Damascus, to strengthen ties between the two countries and strengthen bilateral relations and develop joint work in various fields.
The Director-General of the General Company for Iraqi Railways Talib al-Husseini, who attended the meeting, "in the light of the guidance of the Minister of Transport Engineer Abdullah Al-Aybi in the field of transport and the importance of rail links between the two countries during the axis (Akashat - Altnif - Khnevis) coordination by the Iraqi side, To discuss the possibility of implementing rail links between the three countries to complement what was agreed during the bilateral meeting held on 5/7/2014, where it was stressed to move forward to strengthen bilateral relations and improve the level of ambition for economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation in all sectors.
Al-Husseini added that "the road to joint cooperation in the economic field has been reached and all obstacles and restrictions preventing the strengthening of the volume of trade exchange and commodity exchange between the two countries of local origin for export, as well as discussing cooperation in the fields of energy, electricity, land, sea, air and skiing."
It is worth mentioning that the Syrian side handed over to the Iraqi side the draft agreement of cooperation of the Syrian Railways and the Iraqi Railways to study it and provide the Syrian side to respond within three months from the date of the signing of the minutes of the ninth joint committee agreement to hold a technical meeting between the concerned Syrian Railways and the Iraqi Railways to find solutions and other related understandings between the two sides to activate them.
