Iraq is moving ahead with plans to set up two industrial cities in Basra and Dhi Qar

(Encyclopedia of this Day News | [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) - Ministry of Industry and Minerals , and under the guidance of its minister , Dr. Saleh Abdullah al - Jubouri confirmed the move in its programs and plans drawn towards the development and investment of industrial cities projects after culminating in its efforts and its success in the preparation and enactment of industrial cities law.

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals, under the direction and supervision of Minister Jubouri, contributed actively to the preparation of the Industrial Cities Law in coordination with the Ministry of Planning and in cooperation with UNIDO.

He pointed out that the ministry has formed a specialized team for the purpose of attending sessions of the State Consultative Council with its three bodies to discuss and prepare the final draft of the law and submit it for approval in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and send it to the House of Representatives for the purpose of voting and legislation.

He stressed the importance of this law as a general economic law to regulate the establishment, management and development of industrial cities and to regulate the work of developers and investors inside Iraq, similar to the countries of the world and neighboring countries, as well as its importance in encouraging and expanding private investment and strengthening the capabilities of the national economy.

It is clear that the Industrial Cities Law, which includes (20) articles, will contribute to giving the legal basis for the investment of industrial cities, attracting industrial projects and employing local manpower.

Al-Shammari referred to the two industrial cities in Basra and Dhi Qar governorates under the supervision of the General Directorate for Industrial Development and the implementation of the General Company for the design and implementation of the projects belonging to the ministry, which reached advanced proportions.

He said that the Ministry of Industry seeks to establish modern industrial cities to establish small and medium enterprises and encourage the private sector in order to achieve the developmental development in the provinces on which these cities are built and serve the Iraqi economy.
