Operation Sentinel .. Statement of the Central Command of the US Army[/rtl]

The US Central Command has announced that it is developing a multinational naval effort as part of a process called "Watchman" to increase surveillance and security in major waterways in the Middle East to ensure freedom of navigation in light of recent events in the Gulf region .
The Middle East Command, known as Centcom, is responsible for the Middle East region. The purpose of the "guard operation" is to promote maritime stability, ensure safe passage and reduce tensions in international waters throughout the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Oman.
This maritime security framework will enable "States to guard their flag vessels, taking advantage of the cooperation of participating States to coordinate and promote awareness and control of the maritime area."
The military statement underscored the US commitment to support this initiative, noting that "contributions and leadership from regional and international partners will be required to succeed."
He stressed that US officials will continue to coordinate with allies and partners in Europe, Asia and the Middle East on the details and capabilities needed for the "guard operation"
