Maliki's office published statements that also said that if [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] continues to target his country, Iraq "will turn it into a battleground to which many countries, including Iran, will be drawn."
"Iraq will take defensive measures and respond strongly with the help of Iran," Maliki said in a statement.

Four bases used by the crowd, which includes Shiite factions loyal to Iran, have been subjected to mysterious explosions in recent weeks, the latest occurred on Tuesday at the headquarters near Balad air base, which houses US military north of Baghdad.
