The Internal Security Forces (ISF) court has sentenced an administrative agency officer arrested by the Interior Inspector in bribery to severe detention, the office of the inspector general said on Thursday.
The office said in a statement received (Mawazine News), that "the Internal Security Forces Court issued a verdict of severe imprisonment for a year and a half and expulsion from the service of an officer at the rank of a major attributed to the administrative agency of the Ministry of Interior against the background of seizure by the Inspectorate of the Interior in bribery and extortion" .
He added, "The court sentenced the defendant after the detachment of the Special Operations Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior had arrested him earlier for his involvement in the crimes of bribery and extortion and violating the rules and regulations with other officers and employees, and referred him to a single case related to a larger case involving those officers. They are being investigated to identify those involved with a view to bringing them to the competent courts to adjudicate their cases.
