The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced, on Thursday, that there is no agreement to establish American bases on Iraqi soil.
Committee member Ali Al-Ghanmi affirmed, "There is no agreement to establish American bases on Iraqi soil," stressing "the illegitimacy of the presence of American forces on our soil and this number."
Al-Ghanimi said, "The American forces were present on our lands, with approximately 250,000 fighters and their tanks, and the Iraqi government was able to drive them out under a strategic agreement with the United States."
He added that "Iraq went through a difficult circumstance that its security forces and the popular crowd managed to eliminate the terrorist ISIS," surprising at "the positions of some political blocs and popular responses to the departure of the American forces, which had no position in stabilizing the country's security."
Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi revealed, earlier, that he received a message from the American leadership talking about withdrawal, while he indicated that the situation is sensitive and it contains many opposites that need to choose the safest way to overcome the crisis. Ended 29 / A 43
