The Department of Parties and Political Organizations of the Electoral Commission announced today, Thursday, the number of alliances and parties participating in the upcoming elections.

In a press statement followed by Alsumaria News, the department said that the number of approved parties has reached 249 so far.

While the number of parties under registration reached 64.

In addition, 30 political coalitions were approved, including 25 in the period leading up to the 2018 elections, and 5 new coalitions that were ratified during the past days.

She added that the party registration controls are legal and based on the Political Parties Registration Law No. 36 of 2015, and she

indicated that more than 70% of the department’s work is focused on following up the parties in all directions, such as finance, financing, donations, arming parties and informing them, and all the statements and parties' websites issued by them.
