{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Karbala Water Directorate affirmed its inability to meet the province's citizens' need of water, limiting its need at 40,000 cubic meters per hour during the summer season and millions of visits, while the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities hopes to end the problem of water scarcity in the Husseiniya district in Baghdad through a project Flower water.

The director of Karbala water, Muhammad Fadhil al-Nasrawi, said, in a press interview, that "the department's early preparations came in conjunction with the increase in the number of the city's neighborhoods and the increase in its population during recent years, as it prepared plans for projects to be implemented during the current year to be submitted to the governorate for approval."
"Among the projects are the erection of water complexes, the implementation of a number of transmission lines to open the bottlenecks, the implementation of some networks for the neighborhoods, the rehabilitation and maintenance of central water projects and the increase of their production capacity, which currently amounts to a total of 35 thousand cubic meters per hour."
He pointed out that "the department has so far not been able to meet the province's citizens' need of water," specifying its need at "40 thousand cubic meters per hour during the summer season and the million visits."
Al-Nasrawi specified "three reasons for the scarcity of the governorate, the first of which is the exceeding the water networks allocated to regular neighborhoods, which causes a great waste of the shares specified for each of them, and the second reason is the fluctuation of the electricity supply, which leads to the disruption of pumping water to citizens, and the third reason is related to incorrect or regulated use." For water, whether in showers or coolants, this negatively affects the development of remote areas. "
Regarding the flower water project in Baghdad, the director of water in the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities Najm Al-Hayali told Al-Sabah: “The completion rates of the project, which is one of the important strategic projects, increased from 53 to 76 percent in just six months.”
He added that "the directorate supervises it according to the investment plan of the ministry in Baghdad and the provinces," revealing that "the project will open at the end of next year."
He disclosed that "a meeting was held with the company executing the project, and it was agreed to solve all work obstacles," explaining that "the project, with a production capacity of ten thousand cubic meters per hour, will provide drinking water and end the scarcity in the Husseinieh district and the surrounding areas."
