    • Baghdad - IQ

Retired American General G Garner confirmed that the Iraqi Kurds are facing three threats, including problems between Barzani and Talabani's parties, which represent an internal division in Kurdistan, describing the one Iraq policy as "a failure."
" The first threat facing the Kurds today is internal division, " Garner, who is the first American ruler of Iraq after 2003, said in an interview with Kurdistan 24, followed by  IQ News , noting that "the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party do not talk to each other." This does not serve Kurdistan at all. "
He added that political parties must unite, otherwise Kurdistan will face a "great threat."
Turning to the upcoming Iraqi legislative elections, Garner said, "When you have the votes of large blocks, you will top the national elections, and that will make you make the prime minister ... and you cannot do that when you are separate."
The retired general said, "The governorates of the Kurdistan region could effectively prevent any constitutional amendment in Baghdad that would put the Kurds at risk."
He went on to say, "If these provinces are divided and not together, the Iraqi parliament can pass any kind of bad legislation that is intended to harm Kurdistan."
"The internal threat will undermine Kurdistan if it is not a class," he said.
He pointed out that "the second threat facing the Kurds is Iran's control of the Iraqi government," noting that "the Iranians are pressuring to get rid of the Americans and threatening that America will pay a heavy price if it remains in Iraq."
Regarding the third challenge, Garner said that it is the "one Iraq policy pursued by the US State Department," adding, "They say that you have one Iraq ... This means that anything you ask for for Kurdistan must be agreed upon by Baghdad, and it will prevent you from obtaining A lot of things. "
He emphasized that "the one failed Iraq policy has remained the same since 2003," continuing, "We have proven every year for 18 years that what we are doing is wrong and we must change it," summarizing the three threats as "the absence of unity, the military threat in the region and the political threat."
Despite the challenges, Garner said, the Kurds have come a long way since 1991, and when you were here you had more than 4,000 villages destroyed, and nearly all of the people were from the mountains and most of them had left for Turkey or Iran, and the only people here are few Peshmerga fighters. .
