    A member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee Falah Al-Khafaji proposed, on Friday, a mechanism by which half of the looted and smuggled money can be recovered if it is properly and accurately applied.


    Al-Khafaji said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "The actual elimination or reduction of corruption and the return of the looted and smuggled money requires a real will and deliberate plans to address this file," indicating that "it is possible that the funds of every official in the Iraqi state will be followed up to his fourth-degree relatives since "During his tenure, and following up on their situation, have their wealth doubled, and have they acquired large property and bank balances?"






    Al-Khafaji added, "The second step is through the activation of the graft law and from where do you get this, for those who have reached the level of super-rich and have acquired countless banks, palaces and funds, and follow-up from where they got that money, is it before 2003 or after?" This date and how to obtain it in detail, "pointing out that" some did not own anything and live a very simple life, then today they have become owners of factories and mega projects and very large balances and it is necessary to know where they got that money. "


    He pointed out that "if we want to dry up the sources of corruption or at least reduce them, then this mechanism should be taken as a first step, and at that time it is possible, in the case of correct and accurate implementation, to return up to half of the smuggled and looted sums in corruption deals," stressing that "the matter needs seriousness and a strong prime minister." He is courageous and resolute to fight corruption and lack of courtesy under any pressure.
