The Iraqi Military Technical Committee and its American counterpart agreed on an action plan to implement the outcomes of the strategic dialogue between Baghdad and Washington.
This agreement came in the first meeting held between the joint committee, which was chaired by the Iraqi side, the deputy commander of the joint operations, Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, and from the American side, the commander of the Operations Solidarity Forces in Iraq, Lieutenant-General Paul Calvert.
According to a statement issued by the Joint Operations Command, the plan will be completed during the next session of talks that will be held in Baghdad or Washington in July or August of this year, provided that the plan includes specifying mechanisms and timing for redeploying the combat forces of the international coalition outside Iraq.
The statement added that the US side reiterated its respect for Iraqi sovereignty, as well as reminding it that the presence of the international coalition in Iraq is at the request of the Iraqi government.
