{Economic: Al Furat News} The volume of Turkish exports to Iraq from 2013 to 2020 amounted to more than 83 billion dollars, according to the Turkish Statistics Authority.
The percentage of Turkish exports to Iraq reached 5.4% of the total Turkish exports, making Iraq the fourth most importing country from Turkey after Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States of America
The value of Turkish exports in 2020 amounted to $9.14 billion, decreasing by 10.5% compared to 2019
Despite the volume of exports, the value of transfers made through the Central Bank of Turkish banks does not reflect this large number, which indicates that most financial transfers to Turkey are not made through official banking channels, but rather through remittance offices operating outside the banking system.
In addition, the volume of customs collected through the ports coming from Turkey does not reflect these figures, which shows that there is a great manipulation in the quantities entering and their establishment, and there is no great cooperation with the Turkish side in this field
The amount of money that goes to Turkey annually for the purpose of trade, investment or tourism is estimated at more than 20 billion dollars, which provides strengths for the Iraqi side to put pressure on the Turkish side in various fields, especially in the field of water and the launch of the water quota.
The Iraq Future Foundation for Economic Studies says: "The lack of data clearly on the Iraqi side and the inability to exploit the strong points led to the weakness of the Iraqi position, especially in the field of water and the field of military intervention."
She added, "The financial figures and imports can be a strong point on the Turkish side in order to provide for Iraq's various needs or add an additional tax on Turkish imports, which will lead to an internal reaction, especially since Iraq occupies the fourth place among the countries most importing from Turkey."
