Shafaq News/ The oil expert, Hamza Al-Jawahiri confirmed, on Tuesday, that the associated gas investment is a priority from the natural gas fields, indicating that the projects signed by Iraq with the French Total Company will be owned by the state.
Al-Jawahiri told Shafaq News Agency, "The gas associated with the oil fields is burning daily and in large quantities without benefiting from it," noting that "in the event that it is not optimally exploited and invested, it means that Iraq loses enormous money daily."
He explained that its investment "is first of the natural gas fields that exist, especially in Diyala and Anbar," noting that "Iraq has been late in investing the two gas fields in Diyala and Anbar because its areas are weak in security."
Natural gas in Iraq is divided into two types: the first is gas associated with oil, which constitutes the largest part of the country's gas wealth, and the second is free natural gas, represented in the Cruz field in Anbar Governorate, the Siba field in Basra, and Mansouriya in Diyala.
Al-Jawahiri pointed out that "the recent agreement signed by Iraq with the French company Total in the fields of oil and gas, renewable energy and sea water is one of the major projects that will create sustainable development in the country," noting that "these projects will be state-owned because they will be financed from the production of the Artawi oil field." ".
